First of all, the community I have grown up and lived in is very important to me, which is why I have to become able enough to take care of my mum, two sets of aunt and uncle, and a professor friend. I must have a house where I can serve these important ones before they start becoming dependent.
Besides my family, I want to serve others too. I realize that the privilege that I have been born into or acquired is not easily accessible to various others, for example, the kind of education I have received (especially the prestigious schools), the exposure to a progressive environment and opportunities, a community of loving nature, etc. Many children and even adults may experience trauma because of not having these privileges and I want to share my privilege with as many people as possible. This is where I contribute through my “Money Spent Right” initiative.
I would like to be an educator in future. Teaching facilitates me to explore my creativity and to make the subject fun for the students to learn from. In my experience of teaching, I relate to real world applications as often as possible. Why is there a point of learning something if we cannot relate it to real-world examples?! As an educator, I want to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and physical reality.
As mentioned previously, technology is powerful and its impact to affect us is immense. I use this technology on a daily basis to make my life more convenient and this is the convenience I want my peers around the world to enjoy. Since many of these technologies may be unaffordable, we need a user benign design. Furthermore, numerous manufacturing organizations are moving towards becoming more sustainable. That is the most proactive theme of this decade. The correlation between manufacturing industry and global warming is well understood and great efforts are needed to make the industry more environmentally benign than the present state. These are the two fields of design where I want to mark my legacy in.
I believe in a community. A place where there is love and care for each other, a place where people grow into better versions of themselves and an environment where ones thoughts are challenged to further refine it. No matter where I am in future, I will create a community regardless of age, gender, creed, nationality or skin colour. My goal would be to bring people together and let them thrive in this community.
Lastly, I believe in minimalism. In a world where we have unlimited wants, I also have a want to not be satisfied in what I possess. I have decided to restrict my wants to the bare minimum in various aspects of my life, yet not compromising on my living conditions, so that I can be happy with less.
