This is an interview with a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma studying mechanical engineering, who chose to use a menstrual cup.

  • In what ways have you benefited through the use of menstrual cup?

The benefits from the menstrual cup have been amazing. The ability to wear clothes I couldn’t before such as leggings and white pants has been incredible and something I haven’t experienced since before my menstrual cycle began. Also the fact that exercise and swimming have become something I feel comfortable doing during the cycle is completely new to me. Overall, the cup has allowed me to continue normal everyday tasks and comforts that usually I would stop for the week.

  • What was the first impression like? How did you overcome the initial fear?

My first impression of the cup was enthusiastic but I definitely felt an odd sense of anxiety about its use. I wasn’t sure if I was comfortable or capable of using it because of the slight anxious feeling I got. I was able to overcome this fear through online reviews and reading how other women’s lives have been transformed by the cup. This almost comradery from other women making this life decision helped to motivate me towards experiencing it myself.

  • In what ways has your routine changed now?

My routine has changed in that I save money by not buying menstrual products anymore and I don’t have to waste as much time going to the restroom during the day in order to maintain those products. The cleaning of the cup is quick and straightforward and the ability to do it only once every 12 hours is comforting. Overall, it saves me a lot of time and stress when it comes to the usually feelings associated with menstrual products and has really increased efficiency during my cycle.

Change and progress are two words that define my character and my ultimate goals. I have a vision to bring a global change by targeting the psychology, because that is the easiest to change. My aim is to incur a self-progressive routine for myself and then help the people around me to progress themselves. In my perspective, walking towards a defined target should be everyone’s goal while keeping in mind that things don’t go as planned but still the target should remain unchanged.
